As the first day of the Capitol Games was coming to a close, the volcano in the north stopped erupting. The hurricane to the east let go its final gust, and the blizzard in the south calmed. Wherever the tributes were, they would be able to see the brilliant stars in the night sky, Alpha’s little gift to those who had survived. What was life without some beauty?
Those who had survived the first day either mourned over their lost friends and allies, basked in triumph, or wondered who those cannons rang out for. Finally, as the Arena grew silent, Panem’s anthem began to fill the void. High up in the sky the Capitol symbol, embolden in all it’s golden glory, flickered momentarily before allowing a slideshow of the Tribute’s faces who had died that day to be displayed for all to see.
